Bolt is based on the same principle as Uber (anyone with a valid driver’s license can be a Bolt driver). This Estonian-created startup has been operating in Nigeria since 2016 and competes with Uber through an aggressive pricing policy.

Bolt will only charge you a cancellation fee If you cancel your request more than 2 minutes after the driver has accepted.

Also, you will be charged if the driver cancels the trip request after waiting for you for more than 4-8 minutes, depending on the market.

Uber imposes a cost for order cancellations, whereas Bolt only does it in certain circumstances. The cancellation fee benefits the driver while costing the customer money.
