Uber vs Bolt: Which is better for drivers and customers?

You may easily hail a car from any area, using a ride-hailing app, and have a car ready in minutes rather than chasing a taxi down your street or calling and waiting for around an hour for a car service.
The two most widely used ride-hailing applications in Nigeria right now are Uber and Bolt (formerly known as Taxify), notably in Lagos. There are, of course, additional ride-hailing apps.
Additionally, both Uber and Bolt provide regular people the chance to drive on their platforms. That means you can drive for Uber or Bolt if you have a vehicle that is appropriate for ride-hailing services. As a result, there are now more drivers and vehicles accessible, which makes it simpler and quicker for consumers to find a trip within a short period of time.
Both Uber and Bolt match drivers with consumers using contemporary technology and smartphone applications. Both of them have fundamentally altered the personal transportation sector by enabling you to book a car or a cab from any location using your smartphone.
In this essay, we compare Uber and bolt since, as a new driver or customer in Nigeria, you could find it difficult to decide between the two

About

Uber

Uber is an alternative to traditional taxi service and the driver does not have to be a “professional” taxi driver. This startup, created in San Francisco now has more than one billion users worldwide. Uber has also been present in Nigeria since 2014.

Bolt

Bolt is based on the same principle as Uber (anyone with a valid driver’s license can be a Bolt driver). This Estonian-created startup has been operating in Nigeria since 2016 and competes with Uber through an aggressive pricing policy.

Cities of operation

Uber

Uber currently operates in Lagos, Gulu, and Abuja.

Bolt

Bolt will only charge you a cancellation fee If you cancel your request more than 2 minutes after the driver has accepted.
Also, you will be charged if the driver cancels the trip request after waiting for you for more than 4-8 minutes, depending on the market.
Uber imposes a cost for order cancellations, whereas Bolt only does it in certain circumstances. The cancellation fee benefits the driver while costing the customer money.
