The Beginner’s Guide to Blogging For Profit – How To Make Money from Blogging
.
“Sir, How can I make money from blogging”? This is one big question that I regularly get asked in my inbox.
And in this post, I’ll open the carton and tell you what you need to know when it comes to blogging for money.
.
The purpose of this post is to give you clarity. The kind of clarity I didn’t have when I first dabbled into blogging, ultimately led to the failure of my first blog in 2007.
.
Fortunately, I persevered and I’ve now come to know a lot of things about blogging…part of which I’ll share with you today.

HOW TO MAKE MONEY BLOGGING

Follow these 8 simple steps if you really want to make money from blogging:

Step 1: Understand your niche
Step 2: create your site
Step 3: learn how to find keywords without a paid keyword tool
Step 4: write a killer article that ranks on google
Step 5: get backlinks (there are many ways to do this)
Step 6: learn other ways to get traffic
Step 7: monetize your blog with AdSense and affiliate marketing
Step 8: reinvest and scale

.
To make money blogging, there are 4 major ways to do so.
And whichever direction your blog will take should be determined by the monetization strategy you choose.
.They are:
1. Adsense…
2. Affiliate Marketing
3. Selling Your Own Products
4. Selling Your Services
.Let’s look at them one after the other…
.
1. Adsense.
.
This method is all about putting up ads from advertising networks on your site by installing a script usually in the <head/> section of your site.
.The largest advertising network is the one owned by Google, called Google Adsense.
.
Basically how it works is simple:
When companies pay Google to run Display Ads, Google will take those ads and display them on websites and blogs that it feels are relevant to the products or services the company is selling.
.
When you activate Google Adsense, Google will display such adverts on your site, and if a visitor on your site clicks on those ads, Google will pay you a percentage of the amount it charged the company to display those ads.
.
However, to make the most money with this method, you need to operate in a niche with a high Cost-Per-Click (CPC).
.
The higher the cost of a click, the more money you’ll make when people visit your site and click on the ads displayed.
.
If an ad costs $1 per click, and 1,000 people clicked on an ad on your site in a month, your income for that month would roughly be around $1,000 US dollars.
.
However, To make serious money with this method, you’ll need a Huge Amount of content, backlinks, and traffic to your site.
.
2. Affiliate Marketing
.
Traditionally, all things being equal, this method produces much more money than Adsense, especially when done correctly.
.
Basically, it involves signing up as an affiliate for another person’s products or services and then writing posts about those products or services while using your affiliate link strategically around the post to link to the products.
.
When a reader/visitor clicks your affiliate link and purchases the product or services, you’ll be given a percentage of sales as commission.
.
3. Selling Your Product
.
This is one of the highest ways of earning money with blogging.
It involves writing an e-book, or instructional videos about a subject you’re an expert in, and then making it known to the visitors of your site.
.
You’re free to charge any amount you want for your knowledge.
When people make payments, they will automatically be redirected to the page where they can download the e-book or videos.
.
To use this method, you’ll have to gain expertise in a subject and also correctly integrate or use payment processors like Paystack or Selar.
.
4. Selling Your Services
.
Just like the point above, you can use your blog to generate leads for your services.
Things like coaching, web design, graphic designing, etc, can be sold via a blog.
You’re free to charge any amount you want for your services.
.
When people make payment, they will automatically be redirected to the page where they can book your services.
.
To use this method, you’ll also have to be an expert and correctly integrate or use payment processors like Paystack or Selar.
.
For coaching services, you’d need a digital calendar to schedule your time, and use platforms like zoom to deliver the coaching that was paid for.
.
These are the 4 major ways to earn money with blogging. There are other minor ways like accepting sponsored posts, selling links or ad space on your site, etc.
The method you choose is dependent on what your blogging goals are.
.
Also, depending on your niche and blogging strategy, monetization methods like Adsense and Affiliate Marketing can be combined to give you an even greater income.
Regardless of your monetization method, to make any meaningful money with blogging, you’ll need serious traffic to your site.
.
And that traffic can best be gotten by publishing Great content on your site and building high-quality backlinks to those posts already published on your site.
