For example, a single link from a website about real estate would most likely indicate that real estate is an unpopular topic for website owners.
In terms of ranking higher in search engine results pages, Google does place more value on links from websites with high relevance and authority. The higher authority a site has, the more weight its backlinks carry with Google.
However, don’t think you need to get all of your backlinks from high-authority sites. You can start building up your rankings by getting backlinks from smaller sites like blogs or even YouTube channels that have much lower authority than say Forbes or New York Times but still have good relevance to your industry.
It may take a little more time but these will help you build up trust with Google over time and add more relevance and authority to your site in the long run.
How Do I Get Quality Backlinks?
If you want quality backlinks, you’ll need to utilize tactics that are more sophisticated than simply posting links on your site or forum.
Quality backlinks typically come from other websites and they’re usually “no-follow” links. To generate these types of links, you’ll need to reach out to other sites with a similar audience and ask them to link to yours.
For example, if you’re running an E-Commerce company in Nigeria, it would be wise to try and get a link from an E-Commerce website in Nigeria rather than one in Ghana or South Africa.
This approach will yield better results because people are more likely to trust relevant sites. It also makes your job easier because there’s no need for outreach when someone else has already agreed to publish a link on their site.
Just remember that not all backlinks are created equal! You should avoid any tactics that result in low-quality backlinks as this will harm your ranking potential. Low-quality backlinks may include:

To be honest, there are 2 main reasons we build links (out of other reasons)
1. To build trust
2. To boost your articles to page 1 on Google.
In other words, links are built to support competitive keywords to climb up to page 1.
To rank on Google, PAGE AUTHORITY plays an important role, and when you build links to increase your Domain Authority, your page Authority also increases.

My website for instance has 50DA, by default, all my posts will have a minimum of 25-page authority. So even if I create a post today, it will rank without backlinks.
